London Photo Stock - Coming soon!

After so many years photographing not only architectural projects, but also every neighbourhood where those projects were located, I ended up with thousands of images of the streets of London in my photo library. A very diverse imagery which shows the life-style, the locals, the shops, streets, details that most of us pass by and don’t notice.

Well, this whole archive of images which for a long time was sitting on my hard drives, not seeng by almost anybody, will be soon available to be licensed and used by who ever need them. For now, a little fraction of these immense collection of images can be seen here in my website on the Photo Stock menu. Soon, a dedicated website, the London Stock Photos (www.londonstockphotos.co.uk) will be online, working as a live image stock of London images (probably the biggest one on-line), with weekly updates of new images . Loop Images (www.loopimages.com) will be also hosting the vast majority of my images, helping to spread their availability across different associated image stock libraries across the world. I just can’t wait to show all of them!

My New Venture - London newest Fine Art Printing Studio - the Image Print Centre

I've been always struggle to find a decent printing studio to print my images, although I always faced only two options in London, the famous printing companies in central London, that charges a fortune for a small print and are not owned or directed by a photographer, or, the cheap online ones, where everything is printed in an industrial scale, where no time is spent adjusting the images before printing, everything is printed as they receive. So, I decided to open my own printing studio, the Image Print Centre - https://www.imageprintcentre.co.uk - dedicated to professional photographer and digital artists, offering outstanding quality, affordable prices and with the approach to work one on one with every client, so, a truly bespoke service. It has been absolutely great since I opened, the studio already received the visit of many pro photographer who had the same struggle that I used to have, London finally has a premium fine art printing studio totally dedicated to photographer, delivering high standard prints without ask an arm and a leg.

You are all welcome to come around and try out prints! Get in touch.

Merano / Rogers Stirk Harbour + Partners

Very happy to know that Merano Residences was shortlisted by the RIBA as part of the 83 Best New Buildings in London. Although it was not the best period of the year to photograph, the results came out quite well. I will be back next summer to make the best out of it. Wishing RSH+P luck!

“Since 1996, the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) has hosted awards for exemplary buildings across the UK by RIBA Chartered Architects and RIBA International Fellows. This year, 83 projects have been shortlisted for the RIBA London Awards from a list of 200 entrants.

Westbury Road for Cortizo

Got a commission from Cortizo (Spain), one of the leading manufacturer and distributor of aluminum and PVC systems for the architecture and industry sectors, they asked some photos of a nice property in New Malden, where they supplied the all the windows. Loved the project. The weather wasn’t that good, but enough to get some nice images out of it.

Battersea Studios

I had the opportunity to shoot the Battersea Studios yesterday for Edward Charles & Partners. What a lovely interior! Definitely a very interesting place to work and set a company office.

INSPIRATION FOR MY NEXT PERSONAL PROJECT - ART DECO

I was looking for some particular architectural style to photograph, some inspiration for my next personal project. Well, I just found it. Whilst visiting Miami for the first time, I discovered the incredible Art Deco Historic District in South Beach, the whole neighbourhood is just about Art Deco, I have to admit, it is stunning! So, I quickly ran and grabbed my camera, no tripod, just hand held and crazily captured as much as could along Ocean Drive, I had to be quick as my wife and daughter were waiting for me by the beach. That was enough to spark the idea for my next personal project: to capture the most interesting Art Deco buildings back home, in UK, specially in London, where we probably have plenty. Now, time to do some home work, researches, to deeply study about Art Deco before the summer arrives. It will be fun!

Hi all,

I’m really excited to share and recommend to all of you interested in start doing microstock photography to read this very useful book written by a dear friend and great professional, Alexandre Rotenberg.

This highly illustrative Brutally Honest Guide tells it how it is!

To ‘make it’ as a freelance Microstock photographer takes a hell of a lot of technical talent, effort and commercial awareness. If you possess these qualities, submitting stock photos presents an opportunity to earn some extra cash for images that might otherwise be gathering digital dust. Businesses desperately need high quality and cost-effective stock images to persuade consumers to purchase their products and/or services.

Alexandre Rotenberg is a travel photographer and has been submitting travel stock photos to various agencies since 2012. He tells his story from the frustration of earning practically nothing to running his own stock photography small business which generates him a tidy sum every month that he uses to travel and upgrade his equipment.

Alex provides you with the necessary technical and commercial/editorial advice to succeed, while at the same time teaching you how to manage your expectations. This is not a ‘get rich quick scheme’, so he’s included an insightful case-study of an ‘average contributor’ who submits over a three-year period.

What's more, you get an overview of the 'ins and outs' of submitting your images to various agencies so that you can decide which agencies you should target. He also includes advice as to how to submit your images outside of Microstock to obtain the maximum amount of royalties from your premium images.

Here’s the table of contents:

Chapter 1 – Microstock Photography 101

Chapter 2 - What's in my Camera Bag?

Chapter 3 – Achieving Technical Excellence

Chapter 4 - The Legal Side of Stock Photography

Chapter 5 - Licensing Editorial & Commercial Images

Chapter 6 - Overview on Agencies to License Images

Chapter 7 - How Much Can You Expect to Earn (The Extra Mile Isn’t Crowded)?

Chapter 8 - Creating Interesting Images

Chapter 9 - Finding your Niche

Chapter 10 - Keywording

Chapter 11 – Workflow Optimisation

Chapter 12 - Opportunities Outside of Microstock

Interview with Joas Souza, London-based Architectural photographer

This sharing of his experiences will both save you time and help you maximise your earnings right from the start. Screw the outdated mentality of the corporate 9-5 jobs, and join the growing ‘gig economy’ by starting to earn from your stock photos today!

Oak Tree House by Graham Stirk and Susan Le Good

I couldn't be happier with the results of the photography I've produced for the architects Graham Stirk and Susan Le Good of their home in a lovely village in Suffolk. The project is simply beautiful, modern and minimalist, with a spacious open plan featuring exposed timber frames.

The geometry of the project is astonishing, therefore to make the most of it, I've spent an entire day shooting inside out, from the air and ground. Please check here the best features of this incredible project.

German Warehouse

Couple of weeks ago I was comissioned to photograph a massive warehouse in Germany for one of the biggest property investor in UK. The weather turned down at the last minute and instead a blue sky, I had to face a grey one, having to shoot between short breaks without rain. This was one of the situations where I really had to get blood from a stone. I didn't have the luxury of staying for another day hopping to get a better weather, so, my solution was to enjoy the nearly monocromatic landscape and start exploring the curves and lines of the warehouse structure. The challenge was good and the results were even better.
